Clemson Wide Receiver Beaux Collins Sets A Notre Dame Visit
Ken Ruinard, USA TODAY Sports

Irish Breakdown has confirmed the report from Pete Thamel of ESPN that Notre Dame will be hosting former Clemson receiver Beaux Collins for a visit that starts Wednesday.

Notre Dame is in the hunt for at least one portal wide receiver, and the program already hosted Florida International standout Kris Mitchell this past weekend. Collins is the next receiver slated to be on campus.

The 6-3, 210 native of California was a top-ranked recruit in the 2021 class. He was ranked as the nation's No. 48 overall player according to ESPN and No. 62 according to Rivals.

Collins caught 31 passes for 407 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman, which included a 6-catch, 104-yard performance in a win over Louisville and a 4-catch, 137-yard performance in a win over Wake Forest. He got off to a good start in 2022, hauling in 18 passes for 290 yards and five touchdowns in the first five games of the season before injuries derailed the rest of his season.

As a junior, Collins caught 38 passes for 510 yards and three touchdowns. He had another 100-yard game in a win over Charleston Southern (7 catches, 137 yards, 1 TD). He. caught 3 passes for 37 yards in the win over Notre Dame, including a clutch third-down grab. He didn't play in the season-ending win over South Carolina.

His combination of size, catch radius and vertical ability makes him an ideal fit for the boundary position in the Irish offense. Notre Dame doesn't have any pure boundary players outside of talented junior Deion Colzie, who has had his own share of injuries. A pairing of Collins and a healthy Colzie would certainly be enticing, and Collins has traits that could allow them to play together in certain looks, should he decide to come to Notre Dame.

Collins has one season of eligibility remaining and has 91 career catches for 1,290 yards (14.2 YPC) and 11 touchdowns.
