Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno is reportedly worth an estimated $3.3 billion. He’s among the elite who have benefited, from an economic standpoint, during the ongoing global pandemic.
Despite this, the Angels have decided to furlough employees at a level that’s raising eyebrows around the MLB world. This includes the amateur scouting department ahead of the draft next month.
It’s not a great look at a time when a large amount of Americans are unemployed during the age of COVID-19. It also goes without saying that Moreno and his Angels have been blasted for making this financial decision.
Moreno is worth 3 billion dollars. What a joke #Angels https://t.co/ukfIkpEneC

Atre Moreno purchased Angel Stadium and the land around it for $325 million, plus gave huge teams to Trout and Rendon. Pretty crazy that they are they are the organization that’s leading the way with furloughs and layoffs.

This is infuriating. Really bad look for Arte and the organization. https://t.co/zwH6yER05I

Angels cutting scouting to the bone just before the draft. People wondering why when others aren’t. Well, let’s see what Arte is focused on right now. https://t.co/dlu4w8zzGZ

Arte Moreno is worth $3.3 billion. This isn't acceptable.

The MLBPA needs to do a more effective job of messaging. Few of us can relate to players and their salaries, but most of us are the managed — not the managers — like they are. Our bosses all have more money than we do. https://t.co/MJqWfMmOHf
Arte Moreno is worth $3.3 billion. Not great. Especially when contrasted with the Ducks down the street who committed to paying all staff through June 30th a month ago https://t.co/2WiZ6Gh9fT
