Bryce Harper has bold stance on his future with Phillies
Bryce Harper Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Bryce Harper has certainly taken to the Philadelphia Phillies since joining the team in 2019, and according to his agent, he would love to make his stay a permanent one.

Scott Boras told reporters Wednesday that Harper has made clear that he wants to remain with the Phillies for the rest of his career and would be interested in working out a contract extension to ensure that.

“Bryce has let me know that he wants to work out an extension so that he knows that he’s going to be there for the remainder of his career,” Boras said, via Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I’ve certainly told [president of baseball operations] Dave [Dombrowski] that I think Bryce is a franchise player.”

There is not much doubt that Harper is a Phillie for the long term. He is signed through 2031, which would take him through his age 38 season. If he wants to play into his 40s, he will need that new contract, though.

Harper has already won an MVP in Philadelphia, though he is still chasing an elusive World Series.
