The New York Yankees will be one of the busiest teams in baseball this offseason.

Yankees fans should be keeping a close eye on the postseason because there's a very real chance that New York pursues at least a few of the players still playing in free agency. New York has money to spend holes on the roster to fill. The offense needs a boost and the rotation needs at least one or two more arms.

The New York Daily News Sports' Gary Phillips recently sat down with former Yankees star C.C. Sabathia to discuss former Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery, among other topics. Sabathia took Montgomery under his wing and it sounds like he would be happy if the big lefty came back to town.

"Interestingly enough, the Yankees could add starting pitching this offseason," Phillips said. "While other hurlers — like Japan’s Yoshinobu Yamamoto — might be higher on the club’s wish list, USA Today's Bob Nightengale recently reported that Montgomery’s former teams, the Yankees and (St. Louis Cardinals), are expected to pursue the playoff star.

"Would Montgomery be open to a pinstriped reunion? 'I have no idea,' Sabathia said, but the New Jersey resident liked the sound of his friend returning to the area. 'That’d be good with me.'"

Montgomery has dazzled for the Texas Rangers so far throughout the postseason and likely will get a big payday this offseason. The Yankees have been linked to the lefty on multiple occasions already and could be a perfect match. Montgomery compiled a 3.20 ERA this season in 32 starts, has impressed in the playoffs, and already has New York experience. He sounds almost too good to be true.
