Red-Hot Red Sox Reportedly May Deal Young Slugger Ahead Of Trade Deadline
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Red Sox are one of the hottest teams in all of baseball right now.

Boston completed a two-game sweep over the Major League Baseball-leading Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night and likely will be buyers ahead of the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline. The trade deadline is set to come and pass on August 1 and Boston likely won't look exactly the same afterward.

Although the Red Sox may not opt for a blockbuster splash that would decimate the farm system, Boston likely will make a move or two while it looks to make its way back to the postseason. One player that reportedly could unsurprisingly find himself playing elsewhere after the trade deadline is young slugger, Bobby Dalbec, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

"The Red Sox could also look to give Bobby Dalbec a fresh start elsewhere, now that Triston Casas has entrenched himself at first base," Feinsand said. "Boston is said to be seeking rotation help to hold down the fort until Chris Sale and Tanner Houck return from injury next month, plus at least one reliever."

Boston certainly has surprised people this season and it wouldn't be too out of the realm of possibility to see the club make a run for a playoff spot this season. The Red Sox are just one-and-a-half games out of the final American League Wild Card spot and have solid players on the way back to the club in star lefty Chris Sale and shortstop Trevor Story. The Red Sox also have Tanner Houck and Garrett Whitlock on the way back from injury, but a move for a starting pitcher could make perfect sense.

Dalbec at one point was one of Boston's top prospects but has had a fall from grace after struggling at the big-league level. The young slugger has shined in the minors this season and has slashed .296/.402/.611 to go along with 22 home runs and 55 RBIs in 70 games and could have some trade value. The trade deadline is less than a week away and Dalbec's days in the Boston organization could be numbered.
