Rockies 3B Kris Bryant to see specialist about foot injury

Disappointing news for Colorado Rockies fans, as manager Bud Black told the media on Monday that star third baseman Kris Bryant is set to see a specialist. Bryant was out of Monday's lineup against the host Milwaukee Brewers because of a sore foot.

The exact cause of the foot injury has not been revealed, but it is expected that Bryant will be out of the lineup on Tuesday as well.

It's a big blow to Colorado because Bryant has been on a roll. The veteran infielder is slashing .338/.403/.662 in the months of July with five home runs, 10 RBI, and 12 runs batted in on 22 hits.

Colorado is trying to turn its season around after an inconsistent first half. They currently sit 7.0 games out of an NL Wild Card spot and are playing under .500 thanks in part to going 16-30 on the road. They got a 2-0 win over the host Milwaukee Brewers on Monday to salvage a win in an otherwise dismal road series. They return home for a two-game series against the Chicago White Sox before hosting the NL-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
