Two-time Cy Young winner hoping to make giant impact immediately for San Francisco

Blake Snell doesn't want to waste any time getting back on the bump.

Now a member of the San Francisco Giants after signing a two-year, $62M contract, Snell is hoping to make the quick turnaround work.

He signed just nine days before the Giants' Opening Day matchup with the San Diego Padres -- Snell's former team -- but the hope is that he'll be ready to go sometime during the first series.

"We'll throw a bullpen tomorrow and go from there," Snell said at his introductory news conference, per ESPN.

Snell could have a chance to make an impact for San Francisco right away and make an impression on his old fan base in the process. The Giants' first four games are in San Diego and the lefty has been working out and should be loose.

"We talked all offseason about adding to the top of our rotation," Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi said. "We were really excited about the pitching we had already. We couldn't be more excited as an organization. We know Blake's ready to go."

Snell boasted a 2.25 ERA last season for the Padres with a 14-9 record as a starter. He won the NL Cy Young, which was his second such award. He was the AL Cy Young Award winner in 2018 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.
