Mavs Reveal Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving Injury Status vs. Kings; Derrick Jones Jr. Update
USA TODAY Sports

DALLAS — After scoring 73 points against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night,  Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic was added to the injury report ahead of their matchup with the Sacramento Kings as the team completes a back-to-back.

The Mavs listed Doncic (right ankle soreness), Derrick Jones Jr. (left wrist sprain), and Maxi Kleber (right small toe soreness) as questionable to play against the Kings. Kyrie Irving (right thumb sprain) is doubtful, while Dwight Powell (left eye corneal abrasion) has already been ruled out.

Doncic, who continues to deal with right ankle soreness, is considered questionable to play against the Kings. When asked about reflecting on his historic performance against the Hawks, he sounded more focused on preparing to play against Sacramento less than 24 hours later.

"We have less than 24 hours until the next game, so I have to recover," Doncic said after Friday's game. "Those names are special. It's unbelievable. I feel special to be in that conversation with those names."

Irving has been sidelined for the Mavs' two previous games, with a possibility of missing his third straight performance. He suffered his thumb injury against the Boston Celtics on a play swiping at the ball early in the game. He sounded optimistic about being able to keep playing through it, but he has been unable to do so yet.

Dallas has only played 22 of 45 games with Doncic and Irving in the lineup. If one of the two superstars cannot play against Sacramento, they will have appeared together in 47.8 percent of the team's games.

Jones could not finish Friday's game after trying to complete a poster dunk and falling on his wrist. He was diagnosed with a left wrist sprain and is considered questionable for the Mavs' matchup against the Kings.

Kleber has managed a right small toe injury for most of the season, and despite returning to the lineup, he's continued to have to manage it. He was initially considered probable to play in Atlanta before being ruled out.
