How the Steelers can steal the Browns' season away

The Steelers (7-6) currently sit in third place in the AFC North and as the No. 6 seed in the playoffs. Their divisional rival, the Browns (8-5), are ahead of them, but here's how Pittsburgh can steal their season away from them.

Following Cleveland's Week 14 win over the Jaguars (8-5), QB Joe Flacco reverted back to its practice squad, which makes him eligible to sign with another team's active roster, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. 

The Steelers still have big questions at quarterback as Kenny Pickett is still expected to miss at least another game or two as he heals from ankle surgery and Flacco could be the answer. 

Backup QB Mitchell Trubisky struggled mightily against the 3-10 Patriots last Thursday night, throwing for just 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Pittsburgh should steal the 16-year veteran from the Browns, helping itself and hurting its divisional opponent.

Flacco would instantly upgrade the Steelers quarterback room as he has completed 49-of-89 passes for 565 yards, five touchdowns and just two interceptions the past two weeks.

The difficult part will be getting the 38-year-old to agree to leaving the team that gave him another chance to play. Apparently, some teams have already tried to pull Flacco away and he isn't budging.

"The issue is, I think there have been some calls that have been made," Schefter said on "The Pat McAfee Show." "Joe Flacco wants to stay in Cleveland."

Nonetheless, there is a price for everything, and Pittsburgh should at least try to go all in on the veteran quarterback, who could be the missing piece to a playoff run.

The Steelers don't have a ton of funds left with just under $3 million in cap space. But they would have to cut someone to make room for Flacco on their 53-man roster anyway, which would open a little bit more money they could use to lure him away.

Although it feels a little far-fetched at this point, it would be quite the win-win move by Pittsburgh that could help propel it into the playoffs and leave its divisional rival in the dust.
