Panthers HC Matt Rhule not ruling out cutting safety Kenny Robinson following multiple ejections

A female fan suffered a minor foot injury as a result of a brawl between the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots during a joint practice session on Wednesday. It was the second straight day of fighting between the two squads as they prepare for their Friday night preseason matchup.

Now, one of the key figures involved in both days of fighting may be facing some stiff consequences.

According to Chad Graff of The Athletic, Robinson "laid out" Wilkerson in a special teams drill and Carolina head coach Matt Rhule said afterwards that the safety was "standing over" the wideout following the hit. An ESPN report said that on the next play, New England defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr. knocked Panthers stud running back Christian McCaffrey to the ground on a late hit, after the former Pro Bowler had already gone out of bounds.

The hit on McCaffrey sparked the second consecutive day of brawls.

Wise, Robinson and Carolina running back Chuba Hubbard were ejected from the practice, while Wilkerson was "taken to an off-site facility for evaluation." Rhule said that an official told him that Hubbard threw a punch during the scuffle.

Robinson was selected by the Panthers in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and after making just one tackle in nine games as a rookie, the 23-year-old recorded 17 takedowns across 10 games (one start) in 2021. During training camp last year, the Panthers coach released defensive back J.T. Ibe soon after he was kicked out of practice for a hit on wide receiver Keith Kirkwood.
