Report: Peyton Manning eyes Bill Belichick to join Omaha Productions, potential to add Nick Saban for ‘GOAT cast’

After splitting ways with the New England Patriots, legendary head coach Bill Belichick went looking for a new coaching job. He didn’t get one and now it seems like the media might be calling him, at least in the short term.

That media career could end up seeing Belichick team up with several people from his past, including Peyton Manning. He may even potentially team up with Nick Saban for a “GOAT cast,” because as Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported, Manning is pursuing Belichick to join Omaha Productions.

This comes shortly after Nick Saban, a legendary college coach in his own right and former coordinator under Bill Belichick recently joined ESPN following his retirement. The majority of Saban’s work at ESPN is expected to revolve around College GameDay. However, that could expand if Manning were to sign Belichick.

Officials say that the idea of creating a Belichick and Saban version of the “Manningcast” would be broached. If that were to happen, ESPN and Omaha Productions are expected to call that broadcast the “GOAT cast.”

Of course, Peyton Manning and Omaha Productions are far from the only ones interested in Bill Belichick. He’s already met with CBS and NBC executives, as both are interested in adding new analysts.

While Belichick has not yet met with ESPN, the network is interested in adding him to their lineup. That could have some amount of impact on how Omaha Productions pursues him, with the two working closely together in the past.

If Bill Belichick were to join Omaha Productions, he would join a line of athletes who have teamed up with Peyton Manning, including another Boston sports legend, David Ortiz.

Bill Belichick also does not appear to be interested in doing a weekly studio show. On top of that, networks have concerns that he’ll leave to be an NFL head coach again at the first opportunity to join a team. After all, it’s generally assumed that catching Don Shula‘s all-time wins record. He currently trails that number of 347 regular and postseason wins, by just 14.

The vast majority of Bill Belichick’s future Hall of Fame career was spent in New England. There, he won six Super Bowls as a head coach and went to nine total Super Bowls. He also won the AFC East in 17 out of 24 seasons that he coached in New England. Along the way, he earned an overall record of 296-133 in New England, however, after a 4-13 season in 2023, he and the Patriots parted ways.
