The Lions dream, nightmare and most likely scenarios for the 29th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft

What is your dream, nightmare and most likely scenario for the Lions with the 29th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Allow me to show you my answers to these questions.

Dream

The dream is LSU receiver Brian Thomas. The Lions need that big receiver that can take over a game and Thomas is that guy. The 6-foot-3 and 205 pound receiver ran a blistering 4.33 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and that speed is not something that just shows when he's in pajamas. It's on the field too.

He can also fly and go up and get the ball and has the size and strength to bully corners off the line too. He's expected to go in the top 20, but if he falls for some reason, the Lions must sprint to the podium fast as they can. 

Nightmare

Any offensive lineman. It doesn't matter which one. If the Lions take an offensive lineman with the 29th pick, that is a nightmare. It's just not the top need for this team. They have a solid setup with their offensive line right now and while drafting for the future is good, this is just not the place to do it 

Guys like UConn's Christian Haynes, Kansas State's Cooper Beebe, North Dakota State's Mason McCormick, Boston College's Christian Mahogany, Michigan's Zak Zinter and North Carolina State's Dylan McMahon are all going to be available in the second round and beyond. Perfect fits for a team that doesn't need any of them to start right away. 

Most likely

It's hard to say anything other than cornerback. the Lions have been looking at just about all of them. They've had seven in for top-30 visits already and met with some at the NFL Combine as well as at pro days. 

As for an exact player, I think it's Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. The Lions have been all over him throughout the process. The had a formal meeting at the combine, Brad Holmes, himself, went to his pro day and the Lions had him in for a top-30 visit. He should also be there when the Lions pick. So it just makes too much sense to ignore.
