Three biggest takeaways from Steelers' Week 17 win over Seahawks

Head coach Mike Tomlin extended his consecutive non-losing seasons record to begin a coaching career to 17 with the Steelers' (9-7) 30-23 win over the Seahawks (8-8). Here are the three biggest takeaways from Pittsburgh's Week 17 win.

Warren and Harris make history

The Steelers' ground game was dominant from the start to finish in the game. Running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren combined for 197 rushing yards and three touchdowns and their big day made history.

Harris (1,072) and Warren (1,104) became just the fourth running back duo in franchise history with over 1,000 scrimmage yards in a season. 

"It shows the progression we have had and it's showing the grit that we have," Harris said. "Just to have a good game plan executed and the O-line coming through, I think it shows you what type of team we are."

With a must-win game on the road against the Ravens (13-3) in Week 18, Pittsburgh will likely continue relying on its two backs, who have proven to be the perfect compliments to one another.

Rudolph should be named full-time starter

Tomlin named QB Mason Rudolph the starter once again for Pittsburgh's regular season finale following another impressive showing. The six-year veteran has now thrown for 564 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions the past two weeks and is happy to be playing again.

"Thankful I got a break and had an opportunity to lead our team," Rudolph told reporters. "It' just fun, man, playing football after not doing a whole lot of that for the last few years."

Whether the Steelers will stick with Rudolph past Week 18 if they make the playoffs is unknown. But if he continues to play well, the team should certainly consider riding with him the rest of the year.

Keep feeding Pickens

WR George Pickens has put fans on a roller coaster of emotions this season with some believing Pittsburgh should move off him this offseason. However, Pickens proved he isn't going anywhere anytime soon after another big performance in Week 17.

The second-year wide receiver has 11 catches for 326 yards and two touchdowns the past two weeks, including this highlight reel catch in Seattle. But Tomlin isn't surprised by any of Pickens' spectacular catches.

"We're used to seeing George make plays like that," Tomlin stated.

Much of Pickens' antics this season stemmed from his lack of usage. If the Steelers continue giving him more opportunities, they will increase their chances to win and keep their talented wide receiver happy.
