'Always important to have him with me,' Carlos Alcaraz reveals his necessary support system that gets him through every match smoothly
Mike Frey-USA TODAY Sports

Carlos Alcaraz has had Juan Carlos Ferrero as his coach since he was just 15 years old. A lot of the credit for his success goes to his coach and he was dearly missed at the 2024 Australian Open. Alcaraz was without Ferrero as the latter had to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. However, the two started training together immediately after the Grand Slam was over in order to prepare for the Argentina Open.

The Spaniard has already made it to the semifinals of the 2024 Argentina Open by winning his first two matches in straight sets. He is the top seed in the tournament and is expected to win it with ease. Ahead of his match against Nicolas Jarry , Carlos Alcaraz spoke in length about his relationship with Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Alcaraz said. (Source: Puntodebreak):

Juan Carlos and I have been together for many years, we have very good trust, it is always important to have him with me, he is a great support. But the weeks that he is not there I am lucky to be with great coaches, as happened to me in Australia with Samu (López). Carlos Alcaraz said

The 20-year-old said that he considers Ferrero to be one of the best coaches in the world right now and the ease of communication he has with him is unmatched. Thus, having him back in his team after the Australian Open is definitely great news for the 2-time Grand Slam winner.

He added:

For me, Samu is one of the best coaches there is currently. I've been with Juan Carlos since he was 15 years old, we know each other very well, and we know how to communicate, but at the level of ease or play, I don't notice that much difference either. It's great to have him with me, yes. Carlos Alcaraz added

Carlos Alcaraz vs Nicolas Jarry Head-to-head record

Carlos Alcaraz and Nicolas Jarry have played a total of two matches against each other in the past and both matches were won by the Spaniard. Both those matches were played in 2023, in the Rio de Janeiro Open and Wimbledon respectively. Alcaraz is definitely the favorite to win this match as well as he is in much better form than the Chilean.

The Spaniard is yet to lose a set in the Argentina Open. In the other semifinal, Facundo Diaz Acosta will face Federico Coria. Alcaraz will thus face one of them in the final.

Being the top seed, he was expected to win this tournament before it even began and it will surely give him a much-required boost in confidence ahead of the Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
