Following Arsenal’s emphatic 5-nil win over Chelsea overnight, Manchester City’s path to a fourth consecutive Premier League title remains the same. Win their final 6 games, and Pep Guardiola’s side will create history this season. That’s the path to history for Manchester City. It hasn’t changed despite Arsenal’s recent victories over Chelsea and Wolves.

The world champions are next in Premier League action on Thursday evening against Brighton. A tough away trip to the Amex Stadium awaits Pep Guardiola’s side. The Seagulls sit 10th on the Premier League table as injuries and European football have taken a toll on Roberto De Zerbi’s side this campaign. But to keep their hopes of a fourth consecutive Premier League title on track, it is a must win game for the world champions. A win will keep City’s title destiny in their own hands. Which at this point of the season is all Manchester City can ask for.

Arsenal’s back to back wins over Wolves and Chelsea have been impressive. It does appear that this season, Mikel Arteta’s side is going to fight all the way in this season’s title race. Liverpool also face off against Everton tonight, and a win for Jurgen Klopp’s side will put them 4 points clear of Manchester City on the Premier League table. But the champions would still have 2 games in hand on their title rivals, meaning no matter what the gap at the top of the table is, City still hold their Premier League title hopes in their hands.

Despite the strong recent form of Arsenal and the opportunity for Liverpool to go four points clear of City before City’s game against Brighton, the equation remains the same for Manchester City. Win their final 6 games, and they win the league. Nothing has changed despite Arsenal’s impressive win overnight. While the champions have 6 tough games to come, they know their path to history. That chase continues against Brighton on Thursday evening.
