35-year-old Angelique Kerber is set to make a return to professional tennis after 18 whole months. She took a break when she announced her pregnancy and has now spent time as a mother before coming back to her duty on the court.

The former World No. 1 recently shared a couple of cute pictures of her baby with her on Instagram. With the Australian Open as the upcoming tournament, the German shared a picture of her preparing to leave for the country. In the picture, she and her baby have matching luggage, and both of them are holding matching racquets.

Liana, the daughter of Kerber, received an early Christmas gift from Yonex: a small racquet. Both the mother and daughter got matching racquets with their names engraved on them. Even returning star Naomi Osaka and her newly born daughter also received the gift from Yonex.

Both the former Australian Open winners will mark their comeback at the season-opening Grand Slam and will hope to start their season on a high.

Angelique Kerber is unsure about her form when she makes a comeback

Angelique Kerber looks to make a return at the 2024 Australian Open after a long 18-month break due to her pregnancy. In a recent interview, Kerber underlined the main issue she might face upon her return.

She revealed that she is fit to compete professionally but is rather worried about her form upon her comeback. She also added that she has to find out where she stands in the game after being out of it for 18 months. As a previous Australian Open winner, the German is set to mark her comeback at the first Grand Slam event.

Of course, I'm really looking forward to it. But of course, I'm also a bit nervous because I can't guess how I will perform and what it will be like. I'm prepared and fit enough to give myself the best chance of getting back to the level I was at. Said the former world number 1 Kerber

Kerber hopes to follow in the footsteps of other players like Serena Williams, Elina Svitolina, and Victoria Azarenka, who have made a successful comeback after their pregnancies.

Even the German wants to have that smooth transition and wants to set her standards high for her return. After the 35-year-old won three Grand Slams, she did not manage to get that same run for a long time and now took time to get fit and return to make a huge difference in the tour.
