Former World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova Out Of Madrid Open With Injury

Karolina Pliskova won't be competing at the 2023 Madrid Open after she announced she picked up an injury in Stuttgart.

The tennis world received disappointing news today as Karolina Pliskova announced her withdrawal from the Madrid Open. The Czech star, currently ranked 15th, sustained a knee injury during her quarter-final match against Iga Swiatek at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.

Pliskova took to Twitter to share the news with her fans, expressing her intention to recover in time for the Italian Open in Rome, which is played in May, a crucial event leading up to the Roland Garros, which starts on May 28th, 2023.

The 2017 Roland Garros semi-finalist, known for her powerful serve and aggressive style, will surely be missed in the Madrid Open. As one of the main events on the WTA Tour's clay court season, the tournament serves as a key preparation for the upcoming Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the year.
