'I’ve trained so hard after…,' Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova’s short ‘tennis lifespan’ inspires Naomi Osaka to enjoy it while she can

The Brisbane International kicked off the year in an elegant style. With the very open draw consisting of top-ranked players as well as returning stars, the fans were very much invested in this tournament. Japanese returning star, Naomi Osaka, made her comeback at this tournament by winning her first match before falling into her second one.

After spending a year on her mental health and pregnancy, the Japanese pro announced her comeback by winning against Tamara Korpatsch in her first match of the tournament. However, her return would not last much longer as the 26-year-old lost her second match against Karolina Pliskova.

However, Osaka seemed pretty optimistic about her loss. She saw the positives from the short run and looks to enjoy the most out of her comeback. Despite the many unforced and careless errors from her end, the former World No. 1 is happy with where she is currently.

As a new mother, the Japanese player spoke about training hard after giving birth in time for her return and just wants to enjoy the moments on the court. The interviewer pointed out to Osaka that she let go of some points carelessly and also seemed to enjoy the points she lost.

I think I'm enjoying myself a lot more, and I also realize there's a lot of things that aren't in my control. I also just think I've trained so hard after giving birth that I need to enjoy these moments.  said Osaka in the on-court interview

From struggling with mental health problems to being able to come back, the Japanese star considers her return as a personal win and is happy with where she is right now. Despite a disappointing outcome, Osaka said to have a great match, and she had a lot of fun playing.

I also just think I've trained so hard after giving birth that I need to enjoy these moments, and I also think in a way watching Sharapova, Serena retiring, I know that the tennis lifespan isn't that long, so I should enjoy it while I can.
