Jannik Sinner opens up about rigorous scheduling playing back-to-back tournaments as he reaches his 20th win this season

With the event in Miami starting shortly, Sinner was back in action and has now made his way to the semis. He has dropped just one set so far, continuing his fine form. Following his win over Machac, the Italian commented on his scheduling and competing in consecutive events, as it can be quite draining. 

No. Physically I feel good. I’m just happy to compete. We practice very hard to be in these positions. Really happy I can play here once again in the semis. It’s such a special tournament. Especially for me. I made my 1st Masters final here. I’m really happy to be back in the semis Said Sinner speaking during his on-court interview.

So far this season, Sinner has been cautious about spacing out his tournaments. He made his season debut at the 2024 Australian Open, winning the Grand Slam event. He then took a much-deserved two-week break before returning to Rotterdam. He went on to win the title to continue his winning streak. 

He again took a small break to prepare for the Sunshine Double. He made it to the semis at the 2024 Indian Wells Masters before losing to defending champ and eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz. The defeat to the Spaniard ended Sinner’s winning streak of 16 matches in 2024.

Jannik Sinner to take on Daniil Medvedev in a repeat of the 2023 Miami finals

Sinner was scheduled early in the day and had to play the waiting game to know his semi-final opponent. Defending champ Medvedev outlasted Nicolas Jarry in a closely fought straight-set match to make the last four. Medvedev won the match 6-2, 7-6 (7). 

The Russian’s win confirms an 11th meeting between him and Sinner. The Italian currently trail 4-6 in their head-to-head. But all of the last four meetings have gone in his favor, despite trailing 0-6 at one point. 

The last win for the former US Open champ against Sinner came in the finals of the Miami Open last year. Having lost the 2024 Australian Open finals to him despite winning the first two sets, Medvedev will look to avenge the loss and end his losing streak against the 22-year-old.
