'Little more Novak into his game': Andy Roddick shares 'boring' piece of advice for Carlos Alcaraz

As the Spaniard is often referred to as a blend of the Big 3, people expect everything coming out of him to be perfect and Andy Roddick believes it creates a problem.

He has claimed that Alcaraz has not found the best version of himself yet. Roddick believes that if the 20-year-old brings that ‘boring’ factor into his game like Novak Djokovic, things might fall in place for Alcaraz.

And now Alcaraz is almost like a combination of all three. He’s still finding his way. I think the best version of himself will be when he gets a little more Novak into his game, where he makes things a little more boring and isn’t spectacular all the time. The American also claimed that Andre Agassi also feels the same way. Roddick revealed a conversation he had with Agassin in Vegas where the former World No. 1 talked about being boring the next point of success for Alcaraz.

When I was with Andre Agassi in Vegas, that’s kind of what he was saying is that he is so spectacular that the next point of success is becoming maybe a little bit more boring on court and kind of getting people and locking them down and not throwing as many uppercuts. Andy Roddick stated.

Notably, right after the Indian Wells victory, Alcaraz suffered a heartbreaking loss at the Miami Open. The Spaniard lost in straight sets to Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinal and his aim to clinch the Sunshine Double was left unfulfilled.
