Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

Former Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova was one of the most sought-after athletes by top brands and this led to the former World No. 1 accumulating enormous wealth. Sharapova was among the richest female athletes during her playing days. Even today, the Russian is on the top shelf of richest female athletes. But Sharapova’s manager feels she could have earned even more.

Max Eisenbud worked with Maria Sharapova for over 23 years and the pair landed some great deals. The Russian soon became the center of attraction for brands and Eisenbud played a massive role in that. But Eisenbud believes that Sharapova could have earned more had she taken out ample time as Tiger Woods did.

Sharapova’s manager revealed how the Golfing legend managed his commercial commitments with his busy schedule. Eisenbund revealed that while Woods took out three weeks for shoots and shot three advertisements in a week, Sharapova only had sixteen days for all this.

Mark Steinberg was a colleague of mine who worked on the 13th floor, I spent a lot of time with him to figure out how does Tiger do it, you know, Tiger had a lot of deals. The key is how do you maximize your earnings but still win. What he'd like to do is take weeks of the year to do his shoots, so what Tiger would do is take three weeks to do five shoots a week in those weeks. Max Eisenbud said on Served with Andy Roddick.

He further talked about Sharapova’s strategy for handling commercial commitments along with the tennis schedule.

Basically, we figured out that we have sixteen days a year that would not interrupt her becoming a great tennis player. She could've made $20 million more if we added four or five days more, but we stayed true. Maria Sharapova’s manager said.

Max Eisenbud reveals how Maria Sharapova helped him land a deal with Li Na

The renowned manager also talked about his deal with Chinese tennis ace Li Na. Max Eisenbund recalled how Maria Sharapova helped him get the deal. Eisenbud revealed that Sharapova had no issues and in fact, supported him when he talked about the deal.

He revealed that Sharapova was all in for it but only if it did not lead to any conflict of interest. Eisenbud then talked about meeting with Li Na and how the Chinese star just signed him based on his work with Sharapova.

She said if this is good for your career I am all for it. As long as you don’t think it’ll be a conflict...So when I signed on with Li Na in 2009, I had this huge presentation...I worked days, and weeks on presenting it to her. She comes in the room and she’s like, um, you made Maria Sharapova rich. I’m gonna sign with you. That’s all she said to me. I’m like you don’t want to see the presentation. She’s like, no. Max Eisenbud revealed.

Notably, other than helping Sharapova and Li Na, Max Eisenbud also works with British tennis star Emma Raducanu. The renowned tennis agent has a reputation for helping players land big deals. His stint with Sharapova is one of the most successful stories for an agent.
