'Routines that got me to Grand Slam finals,' Maria Sharapova breaks down the importance of staying committed to a regulated lifestyle as she stresses on her core mantras

Four years past her retirement, Maria Sharapova is still an influential figure. The 36-year-old won five Grand Slam titles and is among the rare names who have won a career Grand Slam title. Apart from dominating her opponents on the court, Sharapova also maintained a busy lifestyle off the court. Even after retirement, the Russian is busy with her work.

But despite all the work, Sharapova squeezes out at least an hour a day for her body. She tries to dedicate this one hour to her body five to six times a week. The 36-year-old talked about the importance of maintaining a routine in today’s time when there is so much distraction.

Sharapova says that sticking to a routine helped her win the Grand Slam titles and she tries to maintain the same after retirement.

Years of discipline and routines ultimately lead to results. As I’ve spent the last few years transitioning to a new chapter of my life–with motherhood, with business–I’ve realized that so much of the discipline and so many of the routines that got me to Grand Slam finals have transitioned to my life now. Maria Sharapova said. (H/T: Vogue)
With work, with being a mom…having discipline gives you resilience. One of the things I find challenging in today’s environment is that there are so may options and distractions too. So, keeping a routine is harder than ever. But to see results, you have to dedicate that discipline into yourself. The former Russian tennis ace added.

Maria Sharapova highlights the importance of process

Maria Sharapova who made a name for herself through her performances on the tennis court also talked about the importance of process. The 36-year-old said that while she was result-oriented during her playing days, she realized how important the process is as of late.

Sharapova says that sometimes the process becomes even more important than the result because it teaches all the important lessons.

I come from a very competitive background, which means I’m very results-oriented. But, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how much the process is a big part of the finish line. Many times, the process is even more important than the finish line, because it teaches you all these important lessons. Maria Sharapova said.

The five-time Grand Slam champion feels that focusing on the result leads to sudden changes in emotions and things happen quickly. However, when one realizes the hard work put in to achieve the desired result, it motivates the individual to a different decree.

Notably, Maria Sharapova is working on a new program “Wellness Immersions” in partnership with Aman Resorts. She has curated–and will host–the first in the series at Aman’s Amanpuri property in Thailand. It centers, fittingly, on optimizing performance and recovery.

The 36-year-old says that she has curated everything in this program and the best part about it is that it is for people from all levels.
