The Russian took a maternity leave for two years in November 2018 during which she welcomed her first daughter Elizaveta. Before suspending her professional tour on the circuit, Vesnina also captured her then-career-high ranking of World No.13 owing to her triumph at the 2017 BNP Paribas Open.

She won three of those events with her longtime partner Ekaterina Makarova between 2013 and 17, with a mixed doubles crown with Bruno Soares at the 2016 Australian Open.

Hello 2024, are you ready for my comeback? Lets do it. See you guys next year on the court.

The Russian pro and her partner Ekaterina Makarova have earned several laurels together, which included a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The duo held the World No. 1 position for five consecutive weeks in July 2018.
