"Very close but still very far" - Korda on battle with Djokovic

Sebastian Korda played in the Adelaide International final but he fell to Djokovic in three sets after winning the first.

It was a fantastic duel between the players, with Korda playing some great tennis. The match had everything Korda had to offer, from superb tennis to moments of doubt that nearly lost him the opening set. He failed to convert three consecutive set points.

Obviously, I’ve had my chances against Nadal and then Djokovic, but I’m still young and those moments will only help me going forward as long as I learn from them. I think overall there are still a lot of positives to take away from the match. It was very close, but still very far.

On the final

Korda's coach is Radek Stepanek who has been a family friend to the Kordas for a very long time. Stepanek was coached by Korda's father Petr Korda for a very long time and now he's coaching his son. He's more than just a coach to Korda as the youngster considers him a brother and together they plan to go far.

Definitely one day at a time. But obviously I’d love to finish the year Top 20, Top 15. Those are what our eyes are set on and I think we’ll put a really big push into it and hopefully get it done.

On his goals

It's been a great start to the year but now comes the only grand slam his father Petr won.
