Watch: 'Final nail in the Goffin!'- Andy Murray scores a dominant win against David Goffin sealing an R2 matchup with Andrey Rublev at the Indian Wells

Murray got eliminated from the first rounds of back-to-back tournaments at the very beginning of the year. He lost in the first round of the Brisbane International, the Australian Open, the Montpellier Open and the Marseille Open. His performance in the Qatar Open and the Dubai Open was a tad better, as he reached the second round of both these tournaments and he has now done the same in the Indian Wells as well. 

Murray will now face Andrey Rublev in the Round of 64 of the Indian Wells, for whom it will be the first match of the tournament. Rublev recently got disqualified during his intense semifinal match against Alexander Bublik at the Dubai Open. He will look to redeem himself with a win against Murray in his first match at Indian Wells 2024. 

Andy Murray vs. Andrey Rublev Head-to-head 

Murray and Rublev have only faced each other twice and they have both had one win over the other. When they met for the first time in the 2017 Australian Open, Andy Murray was at his peak and he defeated the Russian 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 in straight sets. The last time they faced each other was at ATP Rotterdam, where Rublev got the better of Andy Murray. 

In the semifinal of the Dubai Open, as mentioned earlier, Andrey Rublev was defaulted for his unruly behavior against the line judge over a wrong call. He will definitely be even more hungry to redeem himself in the Indian Wells this time and Murray might be the first victim of his wrath. Moreover, Rublev is in great form currently and he is hands down the favorite to win this match against Murray.
