Fognini slams ATP as he's forced to play 3 games in unacceptable conditions

The 2022 Napoli Cup keeps surprising everyday as first Corentin Moutet retired from his match due to bad court conditions and then Fabio Fognini was forced to play three games on the same court.

Court conditions at the ATP 250 event in Naples are well-known to every tennis fan as the event had to deal with a controversy almost every day since it started. On Thursday, Corentin Moutet played against Miomir Kecmanovic when after eight games, the Frenchman talked to umpire and said that it's dangerous to play on the court like that.

After there was no action from the umpire, Moutet retired from the match as he saw no other solution if he wanted to protect his health. Right after his retirement, Fabio Fognini took on Pablo Carreno Busta, on the same court.

The Italian said already after the warm-up that the conditions are not acceptable, but the match still went underway. Fognini won only 2 points in 3 games before the match was stopped. He soon took it to social media where he slammed ATP Tour for letting such an event continue.

"Tonight I took the field for the second match of the day and at the end of the warm-up I asked the supervisor to intervene because I wanted him to check the conditions of the field. It was very slippery and nevertheless I was denied this possibility," stated Fognini.

"The supervisor showed up after two games and then stopped the game after the third game. Why this delay? This is a serious lack of ATP Tour in a week that is already very complex."
